Ran is an excellent all round tattooist, who also specialises in Abstract Noir. His extensive portfolio is available for viewing in the studio.

New Age of Consent Laws

The Piercing Urge has been instrumental in the content of the new guidelines, and we are happy to say that they are now current as of January 2009!

They are similar to what we have been doing for years - the main difference being that we now have a legal obligation to enforce them - and legal support. Any Piercer who does not follow the new laws can be charged and fined - even if they are under the employ of a studio.

In summary the law is as follows:

• No intimate (genital & nipple) piercing on anyone under the age of 18 years.

• No non intimate piercing on anyone under the age of 16 years without the consent of a parent or guardian

• Prohibits scarification, tongue splitting, branding and beading on anyone under 18 years.

What this means in plain English is that no one under 18yrs can have genital, nipple or the other services listed above.

Folks who are 16 years or older can have navel piercing and all facial/ear piercings without parental consent. You will need to provide Proof of Age though like a passport, learners permit, key pass or any other ID that has your picture and date of birth on it. If you are over 16 and have parental permission but not ID, your parent/guardian will need to provide consent by phone.

Sarah's Farewell

 Well the time has come for us to bid Sarah a very kind farewell as she nears her last official day with The Piercing Urge.

She has been with us for over 10 years now and will be missed by staff and customers alike. A huge personal customer base has seen her heavily booked each Saturday as we draw closer to her final day on Saturday the 14th of February.

If you would like Sarah to pierce you before she goes - I would get in quickly. She does a full range of piercings - including male and female genital work. These piercings will all however still be available at the studio after Sarah leaves.

Much love to you Sarah and thank you for your dedication to The Piercing Urge during your time with us.

Xmas is upon us again and WE are ready!

New shipments of beautiful jewellery have arrived from the U.S.A and are ready and waiting for their new home. Our solid 18ct gold range has been expanded for the silly season if you are looking for something different for that extra special person.

We also have a small range of exquisite hand crafted jewellery from Tam Gannon in store for those who are looking for a stunning neck piece - or bracelet - that will be sure to draw the eye.

We will be available for all your Xmas piercing needs until 5pm on Xmas Eve.

Our Tight Arse Tuesday special will not be available on Tuesday the 23rd of December. Sorry folks but you can still get your amazing discounts on any other Tuesday :)

The studio will be closed Xmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. We will also be closed from 5pm on New Year's Eve.

Intensive Level 1 Training Launch

Here we go folks!!!

This coming January we a pleased to say the Level 1 Intensive Course will be available again on-site at The Piercing Urge.

This course is not for the faint hearted! All 8 days of training will be covered over a 2 week period - and we always have a blast :)

We have had many requests (read begging & pleading) for us to hold our summer intensive again - so the air-con is on and the models are waiting.

The on-site version of our training is limited to 6 people ONLY and places will be allocated on a first registered basis.
 

 The dates will be Tues 13th - Friday 16th January, 3 days off and then, Tues 20th - Friday 23rd January.

The investment is $2000 and includes all course materials. $1000 deposit is required to secure your registration and the balance is payable by Tuesday the 13th January.

Melbourne Cup Day

Hi Folks

We will be closed on Tuesday the 4th of November for Melbourne Cup Day.

If you feel the urge over the long weekend though, we are still open during our normal times:

• Friday 11am - 8pm
• Saturday 10am - 6pm
• Sunday 12noon - 5pm
• Monday 11am - 7pm

We hope you enjoy the long weekend - and good luck if you have a flutter on the ponies.

The Times They Are A Changing

After 10 years with The Piercing Urge one of our valued Piercers - Sarah - is moving forward into the next chapter of her life.

However we a not losing her completely as she will continue to work each Saturday - so be sure to book with her as she will be FLAT OUT :)

So - this coming Monday and Tuesday - the 22nd and 23rd of September - will be Sarah's last weekdays. If you usually see her during the week you may like to pop in and say Hi/Bye to her this week.

In the wake of Sarah's departure we are pleased to welcome back to The Piercing Urge family Danielle, who originally began her career with us at the Sydney Piercing Urge studio. Dan is an experienced Piercer and will be able to assist you happily with most of the services we offer.
